Attention, Mahoning Township residents:

Do you know your township has a franchise fee on your Blue Ridge Cable bill? My bill fee is $4.65 a month. Lehighton residents have no franchise fee.I went to the township meeting to ask why they have a tax. They stated because the cable runs through the township and a federal law says they can.I contacted Blue Ridge Cable and they stated they maintain the cable, the township does nothing. I asked at the meeting if they need money that bad why don't they just raise tax for all the residents. I got no answer.The bottom line is if they can put a tax on you, even if it's not fair and because the law says they can, they will. Unfair tax.Victor B. LeidyMahoning Township
