Committee to find administrator's replacement

Schuylkill County commissioners on Wednesday released the names of the five people who will help determine who gets the job of county administrator.

The committee members are recently retired county administrator Mark Scarbinsky, former Blue Mountain School District Superintendent James S. Fogarty, and former Blue Mountain High School principal Jack P. Wabby, all Democrats; Jeanne B. Porter, vice president of Boyer's food markets, and county solicitor Alvin B. Marshall, both Republicans.They were appointed by the commissioners to find a replacement for Scarbinsky, who retired last month.Sixteen people have applied for the position, said commissioners Chairman George F. Halcovage Jr.The committee will narrow that field to three, whom commissioners will interview before making their decision by the end of August."The county is fortunate to have these talented, community-minded individuals assist with the inter process," Halcovage said."It is paramount that a detailed evaluation process be in place to identify top talent for this vital position," he said.
