The WEPOSC will meet at 6:30 p.m. today at the Chestnuthill Township Park Building in Brodheadsville.Mission tripA REACH Missions Team of 14 teens and nine adults from Effort UMC are in Fulton, New York, for a weeklong work camp missions trip as of this past Sunday.Council meetsThe church council of Zion Lutheran will meet at 7 p.m. at the Brodheadsville church.School board meetsThe Pleasant Valley School District Board of Education will hold a public meeting at 8 p.m. Thursday in the administrative offices in Brodheadsville.VBS finaleSt. Matthew's UCC in Kunkletown is having Vacation Bible School this week. The theme is Cave Quest. The families of those attending have been invited to watch the closing session at 11:30 a.m. Friday and have hot dogs and ice cream. There will also be water games.Also as part of the VBS week, a field trip to Crystal Cave was planned for today.As is tradition, a mission project to serve the community is included in VBS. This year, monetary donations and nonperishable foods for the West End food pantry at Eldred Community Center is being collected. VBS children and volunteers are encouraged to bring a daily offering for the basket, either a couple of dollars or a suggested item. These include canned fruit and vegetables, cake mix, pasta, sauce, juice, applesauce and soup. A collection box is at the grove, and in the church lobby as well. www.TheWestEndFair.com.Tasting fundraiserA Zion Noiz Fundraiser Tasting Event will be held from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Friday at Chestnuthill Park Building in Brodheadsville.The group's invitation is to come and sample dip mixes, seasonings and chocolate powders from Your Inspiration at Home. A percentage of the money raised through the sales of these products will go to the Zion Noiz Relay for Life Team, from Zion Lutheran Church in Brodheadsville, which benefits the American Cancer Society.Family fun nightSalem-St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Kresgeville, will hold a family fun night on Friday, beginning at 7 p.m.Free mealsOur Lady Queen of Peace Church, Gilbert, continues with its free community meals. The West End Mission meal is from 4:30 to 5:45 p.m. every Thursday.A breakfast will be served from 8-10 a.m. Saturday, and Sunday suppers will be held this Sunday and July 24.A luncheon will be served at 12:30 p.m. next Wednesday. All meals are in McCawley Hall.Driver classA Smart Driver AARP class will be held at the Chestnuthill Park Building on Saturday and on July 23. This is the AARP Driver Safety Class for people age 50 and older. There are no tests and membership in AARP is not required.All classes are taught by trained, unpaid volunteers. There is a materials fee. Class size is limited so advance reservations are necessary for placement in class. Participants are to meet at the Chestnuthill Park, 221 Route 715, Brodheadsville, at 8:30 p.m. Astronomer Rich Grebb will lead the program for telescopic views of Saturn with its moons and rings. This includes, as of last report, 14 youth and young adults plus five adult leaders.Women's Club meetsThe Western Pocono Women's Club will meet at 7 p.m. at Effort UMC.
