Students attend SkillsUSA conference in Kentucky

Four students from Carbon Career & Technical Institute along with two teacher advisers from CCTI's Skills USA chapter, recently traveled to Louisville, Kentucky, to compete at the 52nd annual SkillsUSA National Leadership and Skills Conference.

The weeklong event took place from June 20-24 and included more than 6,000 competitors in more than 100 events. These competitions showcased students from across the United States in either their specific trade skill areas or in business leadership events.The students from Carbon Career & Technical Institute who placed first at the Pennsylvania State Leadership and Skills Conference and who represented the school at the national event were Zachary Seiler,in CNC Turning, as an individual state gold medalist; and by Blake Davis,Dan Linendoll,and Jocelyn Mansberryin Career Pathways: Business Management & Administration.Seiler received a bronze medal in his event.In addition to his medal of recognition, he was rewarded with numerous awards and scholarships throughout his journey, totaling more than $23,000. Zach, a 2016 graduate, will continue his education at the Pennsylvania College of Technology in Williamsport in the fall.Ryan Kuntz of Slatington, a student at Lehigh Career & Technical Institute in Schnecksville, also attended and was awarded a Skill Point Certificate in CNC Milling Specialist, one of the highest awards given.
