Two former Times News track and field standouts had the opportunity to compete in the U.S. Olympic javelin trials in Eugene, Oregon on Thursday.
Tamaqua grad Allison Updike had a top throw of 169-5 and finished 15th. Palmerton grad Kelsey Hay finished 24th with a best throw of 138-7.The top 12 advanced to the finals that will be held on Saturday.Kara Winger had the top throw with a 201-6. Nicolle Murphy earned the last qualifying spot with a throw of 171-5.
