All lives matter

Outpourings of support for law enforcement officers came in from all over the country after Thursday's deadly attacks on police officers in Dallas.

Officials also alluded to the two incidents, believed to have inspired the snipers, where two black men were shot by police in separate incidents in Louisiana and Minnesota, and putting their faith in the judicial system.Among local officials, there was a unified call condemning the attacks.Lansford Mayor James Romankow expressed sympathy for the officers in Texas. He also urged people to wait for the justice system to work in regard to the shootings of black men by police that came in the two days before the Dallas tragedy."Justice should be given its chance. Facts need to be found and taken into consideration - justice for all people affected by these tragedies," Romankow said.Lansford's police chief, Jack Soberick, said he can't bear to watch the videos of officers being shot in Dallas. It wasn't just the emotional response, but also the larger meaning about the image of police officers in society."They had no personal beef with those officers, they were killed because of the uniform they were wearing. That's what makes it a heinous and disgusting event," Soberick said.Congressman Lou Barletta, R-Pennsylvania, said he was praying for the officers and families affected by the attacks and called the violence "senseless.""The brave men and women of law enforcement risk their lives day-in and day-out to keep us safe, and last night was a tragic reminder of the dangers they face to protect our communities," Barletta said in a statement.Sen. Pat Toomey, R-Pennsylvania, said that justice needs to be served in the cases in Minnesota and Louisiana. But he was clear that no matter what conduct those officers displayed, it did not come close to justifying the shooting in Dallas."This disgusting attack has no possible justification. The overwhelming majority of police officers are honest, hardworking Americans who should not be scapegoated for the actions of a very small number within their ranks," Toomey wrote.
