Schuylkill County commissioners plan to adopt the county's first solid waste and recycling transporter ordinance.
The ordinance, announced Wednesday at a county commissioners public meeting, will establish a hauler registration program for all who collect and transport municipal solid waste and/or recyclables generated from sources in the county; provide waste flow control requirements to direct waste to designated processing and/or disposal sites; and provide for penalties for those who violate the new rules.The county Office of Solid Waste and Resource Management will administer the ordinance.In other matters Wednesday, commissioners approved an employee assistance program services agreement with Inroads, at the Family Guidance Center.The agreement runs from July 1 through June 30, 2017. The county will pay an administrative fee of $10 per covered full time employee, and an additional fee of $70 for each authorized counseling session.The cost to the county for 560 employees will be $5,600, plus the cost of the counseling sessions provided to covered employees/household members under the agreement.Also on Wednesday, commissioners approved a contract addendum with Delta Development Inc., Mechanicsburg, to renew the current maintenance and support contract for the 911 center by one year.The renewal is for July 1 through June 30, 2017.The $35,000 cost will be paid through the Homeland Security grant program.
