Roof signs removed from county property

Signs saying "We Do Metal Roofs" are coming down.

Tom Gerhard, a member of the Carbon County Board of Commissioners, said his office has received several calls complaining about the signs scattered throughout the county. Many of them have been found on county property and state game lands, he said."I just want to let the public know we are working on the issue," Gerhard said.In addition to contacting the roofing company in Lewisburg, Gerhard said he called Mike Robert, an executive for the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation District 5, to look into getting the signs taken down on county-owned property. Since their conversation, some of the signs have been removed, but others are still out there.Gerhard said he also spoke to Cory Bentzoni, a state game commissioner and wildlife coordinator, who told him the signs have been taken down on state game land. He also told Gerhard that he sent a letter to the company and said charges may be filed for littering and damaging trees on game land.
