Lehigh vehicle stop leads to drug charges

A vehicle stop in Lehigh County on Wednesday led to a driving under the influence charge against the driver and drug counts against the passenger.

State police at Fogelsville said a vehicle was stopped at 9:50 p.m. along Route 100 near Industrial Boulevard for a suspended registration.The driver was identified as Tiffany Potter, 32, of Berwick. It was also learned her license was under suspension.Potter displayed signs of impairment and was placed under arrest for suspicion of DUI.A further investigation revealed her passenger, Lewis Mellor Jr., 33, also of Berwick, was in possession of 162 packets of suspected heroin along with drug paraphernalia.Mellor was taken into custody and charged with possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance. Mellor and Potter were arraigned on the charges and committed to the county prison.
