BROGUE, Pa. (AP) - State officials say four adults and four children have been rescued from a sinking boat in central Pennsylvania.
Officers with the state Fish and Boat Commission Waterway Conservation say the 20-foot boat became disabled in rough waters just before noon on Sunday in the Susquehanna River, about 35 miles southeast of Harrisburg.Officials say the boat began taking on water and started to sink nearly 3 miles from the shore. The boat's occupants ranged in age from 18 months to 58 years old.Authorities say the passengers were rescued along with the boat and equipment that was on board. The boat didn't overturn, but had filled with water until it was even with the waterline.Officers say wind, weather and waves caused the boat to become disabled.
