Pocono Mountain Regional police reported investigating an assault incident with a hammer that occurred in the infield area of the Pocono International Raceway during the NASCAR race on Sunday.
At 1:04 a.m. police were dispatched to the area and spoke to the victim who had visible injuries to his face. He stated he was arguing with his wife when her mother, Regina D. Schoener, 46, of East Stroudsburg, struck him in the face with a hammer. Witnesses’ statements corroborated the victim’s account, police said.Schoener was placed under arrest and charged with aggravated and simple assault, harassment and disorderly conduct. She was committed to the county prison in Snydersville but was later bonded out.
