The Tamaqua Historical Society will again sponsor summertime passenger train excursions.
As part of the 26th Annual Tamaqua Summerfest, the Reading, Blue Mountain and Northern Railroad will conduct 70-minute, round-trip train rides that will depart Tamaqua Station at 11 a.m., and 1 and 3 p.m.The morning trip will go north through the 1850s Tamaqua Tunnel and to the scenic Hometown High Bridge and return.The afternoon trips will go south to New Ringgold and return.The train will be diesel powered and passengers will ride in vintage passenger coaches.Ticket prices are $13 for adults age 13 and up, $9 for children age 3 through 12, and children age 2 and under are free with a paying adult.Tickets are available for purchase only in person at Tink's Antiques located on South Railroad Street next to Tamaqua Public Library. No phone orders will be taken, said a society representative.Cash, check and credit cards will be accepted in person.Tink's Antiques hours for the rest of May are open Tuesday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.Beginning June 1, Tink's Antiques will be open Wednesday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday noon to 4 p.m.All trips will run rain or shine and tickets are sold on a first come, first served basis.Limited seating is available.For more information: 610-597-6722.
