Carbon County court - Parole/probation revocation

Carbon County judges conducted parole/probation revocation hearings on petitions filed by the adult probation office against defendants who violated the terms of their release.

The following had hearings held.Peter Hydro,47, of Jim Thorpe, had his parole revoked on a charge of persistent disorderly conduct on petition of probation officer Derek George for violating conditions by testing positive for a controlled substance which violated the zero-tolerance condition.President Judge Roger N. Nanovic II resentenced him to serve out the maximum of his original sentence in the county prison which runs to July 10.Amber B. Knappenberger, 35, of Jim Thorpe, had her parole revoked in four cases on charges of criminal conspiracy-delivery, resisting arrest, criminal conspiracy-retail theft and defiant trespass on petition of George for violating conditions by testing positive for a controlled substance which violated the zero-tolerance condition.Judge Steven R. Serfass recommitted her to the county prison to serve out her maximum term which runs to Sept. 7.Edward Farber,50, of Summit Hill, had his probation revoked on a charge of driving under the influence on petition of probation officer Clifford Eckhart for violating conditions by being under the influence of alcohol on April 16, which violated the zero-tolerance condition.Judge Joseph J. Matika resentenced him to serve 45 to 90 days in the county prison with credit for 12 days effective April 28. He was granted work release if he qualifies.Jermaine Ervine,32, of Nesquehoning, had his probation revoked on a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia on petition of Eckhart for violating conditions by repeatedly testing positive for controlled substance and failing to engage in and complete drug and alcohol treatment.Matika resentenced him to serve 60 days to six months in prison with credit for 16 days, effective April 22.Jennifer Stefanick, 22, of Lansford, had her parole revoked on a charge of possession of a controlled substance and her probation revoked on a retail theft charge on petition of Eckhart for violating conditions by absconding from her approved residence, violating a protection from abuse order and failing to complete drug and alcohol treatment.Matika resentenced her to serve 45 days to eight months in prison with credit for 34 days already served. The effective date is April 21.Katrina Holland,36, of Lansford, had her parole revoked on a charge of possession of a controlled substance on petition of Eckhart for violating conditions by testing positive for a controlled substance, which violated the zero-tolerance condition and failing to complete drug and alcohol treatment.Matika resentenced her to serve 130 days in the county prison effective April 21 with credit for 43 days already served.Jesus Maldonado-Hernandez, 30, of Downingtown, Chester County, had his probation revoked on a charge of possession of a controlled substance on petition of Eckhart for violating conditions by testing positive for a controlled substance, which violated the zero-tolerance condition.Matika resentenced him to serve 90 days to 12 months in prison effective April 21 with credit for 69 days already served.Sean Holland,24, of Weatherly, had his probation revoked on a charge of selling or furnishing alcohol to a minor on petition of probation officer Joseph Bettine for violating conditions by failing to obtain a drug and alcohol evaluation and follow all recommendations and failing to complete 50 hours of community service.Matika resentenced him to serve three to six months in the county prison effective Oct. 1. However, if he obtains a D&A evaluation and follows all recommendations and completes the community service work by that date the order will be vacated.Harrison Shive,49, of Merritt Island, Florida, had his parole revoked on a charge of DUI on petition of Bettine for violating conditions by leaving a Salvation Army inpatient program before completing it.Matika resentenced him to serve 225 days "street time" in the county prison with credit for 115 days already served. The effective date is April 21.Trevor Hunsicker,28, of Lehighton, had his probation revoked on a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia on petition of probation officer Jillian C. McGinley for violating conditions by failing to report to the probation office on two occasions and failing to obtain a drug and alcohol evaluation.Nanovic resentenced him to serve four to eight months in the county prison effective Nov. 6, 2015, with his release date being July 6.Gina Miller,27, of Lehighton, had her parole revoked in two cases on charges of possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia on petition of McGinley for violating conditions by failing to report to the probation office as directed and failing to report for a scheduled urine screen, which violated the zero-tolerance condition.Matika resentenced her to serve five months back time on the first count and one to five months in prison on the other case, but ruled she must serve the entire five months with the terms running concurrently. The effective date on both counts is March 14.Michael Curry, 27, of Lansford, had his probation revoked on a charge of furnishing drug-free urine on petition of Eckhart for violating conditions by being charged with new criminal offenses and being in possession of a controlled substance.Serfass resentenced him to serve 100 to 200 days in the county prison with credit for 199 days already served.Louise Kelly, 57, of Lehighton, had her probation revoked on a charge of DUI on petition of Eckhart for violating conditions by testing positive for alcohol which violated the zero-tolerance condition.Nanovic resentenced her to serve 45 days to six months in prison with credit for 38 days.Kristin Hickey, 50, of Jim Thorpe, had her parole revoked on charge of possession of a controlled substance on petition of Eckhart for violating conditions by testing positive for a controlled substance which violated the zero-tolerance condition.Matika resentenced her to serve the balance of her original term, which runs to June 20.ARD revokedTwo defendants who were placed in the county's Accelerated Rehabilitation Disposition probation program were revoked from it.Jeremy Knappenberger, 37, of Summit Hill, had his placement on a charge of possession of a controlled substance revoked on petition of Eckhart for violating conditions by failing to report to the probation office as directed, absconded from his approved residence and failing to engage in drug and alcohol treatment.Erica Kates,28, of Lehighton, had her placement on a charge of forgery revoked on petition of Eckhart for violating conditions by failing to report to the probation office as directed, repeatedly testing positive for controlled substances, failing to submit to scheduled urine screens and failing to engage in drug and alcohol treatment.Both had their cases returned to the pretrial list by Matika.
