Temple's Brendan McGowan has been named to the Rimington Trophy Committee's 2016 Spring Watch List, which includes the 50 best centers in Division I football. The athletes included on the list have demonstrated excellence at the center position in the past and are predicted to do so again for the 2016 season.
McGowan, a Marian High School graduate, is a three-year letter winner for the Owls. He started four games at center in 2015, backing up Kyle Friend, who recently signed a free agent contract with the New York Jets.The 6-3, 298-pound McGowan (6-3, 298 pounds) played in five total contests last season. The three-time conference All-Academic selection has played 23 career games for the Owls, also making 11 starts at right guard.McGowan is a graduate student at Temple with one year of eligibiulity remaining.The Rimington Trophy is presented annually to the Most Outstanding Center in NCAA Division I-A College Football. The Rimington Trophy is part of the National College Football Awards Association (NCFAA), which encompasses the most prestigious awards in college football.
