Albrightsville man arrested after running from detectives

An Albrightsville man who allegedly threatened to kill a woman and her child was taken into custody after fleeing law enforcement officers in Monroe County.

Brice House, 31, was arrested and charged with flight to avoid apprehension, disorderly conduct, terroristic threats and endangering the welfare of a child after an incident that occurred at the Monroe County Courthouse Wednesday.Around 4 p.m. detectives from the Monroe County District Attorney's Office were in the detective center when they heard yelling coming from outside. They walked out to see what was going on and found House yelling at a woman while holding a child in front of him. People walking around the courthouse heard the commotion and stopped to see what was going on. Courthouse security approached House and tried to calm him down. The woman was yelling "I just got a PFA, you need to leave!" and attempted to walk back into the courthouse. When detectives told House to place his hands behind his back, after identifying themselves as police officers, House yelled obscenities at them and ran away. House fled to the area of Ann Street while being chased by multiple sheriff's deputies.Detective Kim Lippincott spoke to the woman and the child and learned that on April 29 House pointed a gun at her after physically abusing her and threatened to kill her. It was then that she called the state police, who arrested House for charges relating to domestic violence.Since that incident, the woman had been staying with friends and at other undisclosed locations because she was afraid of House. She said that she thought he would kill her if he found her. As a result, she never received the subpoena to appear in court to testify against him on May 11. Those charges were dismissed and shortly thereafter House went searching for her. Before confronting the victim, House went to a local elementary school and took the child. Staff at the school attempted to stall him but were unsuccessful. An employee at the school reports that the child was terrified before he took her, but there was nothing they could do to stop him since there was no PFA in place. When the school called the victim, she went to the courthouse to obtain a Protection From Abuse Order. Meanwhile, House took the child to Dunkelberger's Sports Outfitter to purchase a holster for his handgun, then walked to the courthouse to wait for the victim to walk out. That was when the argument erupted, just before him running from detectives. On Thursday morning, the state police were called to a home on Jonas Creek Road in Polk Township. They were there because the woman called them stating that House drove by her very slowly while she was walking her dog, and he threatened to kill her and her children.Detectives got an arrest warrant for House, then went searching for with no success. That afternoon, detectives obtained a court order to ping House's cellphone. The ping located the cellphone in the area of the Baymont Hotel in Bartonsville. An undercover officer went into the hotel and confirmed that House was staying there, and a hotel room number was obtained.Detectives made contact and arrested House without incident. In the room with him was Amy Taylor, 22 of Effort. Also in the room detectives found marijuana, $10,000 in cash and cellphones. Taylor denied knowing that House was on the run.House, who was celebrating his 31st birthday, was placed in Monroe County Correctional Facility and arraigned by Magisterial District Justice Anthony Fluegel. Bail was set at $50,000 secured.House will appear before MDJ Anzini at a later date.Charges against Taylor are pending.
