Fire companies from Luzerne and Carbon counties battle a forest fire Thursday afternoon in a remote mining area 4 miles east of Beaver Meadows. This fire was first reported just after noon. It is believed to have been spotted and reported by a spotter in a fire tower. Many confused this fire with the controlled burn in Carbon County conducted by the Pennsylvania Game Commission.
