The Pennsylvania Game Commission is conducting a prescribed burn on State Game lands 141 on the Broad Mountain near Nesquehoning today. Heavy smoke can be seen in the area.
Nearly 1,600 acres of State Game Lands 141 are scheduled to be treated.
A prescribed fire is used to promote oak forest regeneration by reducing competition through a slow-moving fire.
Burning began just after 10 this morning and is expected to last through the afternoon.
