ALLENTOWN, Pa. (AP) — A former charter school teacher is set for trial on dozens of summary charges of corruption of minors after encouraging hundreds of students to walk out of school in Allentown last year.

WFMZ-TV (http://bit.ly/24pYpY5 ) reports the summary trial for 29-year-old Michael Frassetto is set for Wednesday.He's charged with dozens of citations for corruption of minors for allegedly encouraging students to walk out of Allentown public schools in September to call for better treatment of minorities and more textbooks and other supplies.The school district has said encouraging truancy is an unlawful disruption of the educational process.Frassetto has said the walkouts were in the best interests of the students, and that he merely helped them speak up for themselves.He was removed as a teacher at the Medical Academy Charter School in Catasaqua (kat-ah-SAW'-kwah) after he was cited.–––Information from: WFMZ-TV,
