West Penn Township Police have filed charges against a man they say sexually abused an underage girl over a period of several months.
Keith Kranch, now 20, of West Penn Township, was arraigned a single felony charge of corrupting a minor on Monday.
According to police, Kranch admitted to having sexual relations with a girl who at the time was 14-15 years old over a period of several months in 2014. For much of that time, Kranch was 18 years old.
The girl told police that she and Kranch had sex on multiple occasions at Kranch's parents' home and a home belonging to another of Kranch's relatives.
Police learned of the relationship in October 2014, after the girl's father reported that he had found text messages between his daughter and Kranch describing their sexual relationship.
Police said that the girl sought inpatient counseling after her father reported the relationship to police. She said she and Kranch had sex on multiple occasions between February and October of 2014.
Kranch initially declined to speak with investigators, but his father reportedly convinced him to. Kranch admitted in a statement to having a relationship between June and October of 2014.
On Monday, Kranch was arraigned on the single count of corruption of minors, and sent to Schuylkill County Correctional Facility in lieu of $2,500 bail.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for May 10 at Magisterial District Judge James Ferrier's office in Orwigsburg.
