Rules of the Lehighton 150th Celebration Brothers of the Brush and Sisters of the Swish are:
• Men will bury their razor and women will bury their makeup for the weeklong celebration from June 25 through July 2.• Teams of five to six men and/or women will register as a chapter. Each chapter can make up a unique name for themselves. A chapter can consist of friends, co-workers, organizations and businesses. Organizations and businesses may have multiple chapters.• Each member will be given a special button so that people will be able to recognize that they are a member of the teams.• At the end of the week, judging will take place for the men in six different categories: full beard, goatee and mustache, chin strap, fumanchu, mutton chops and handlebar mustache. Women would not be allowed to wear makeup for the entire week.• Chapters will be required to compete in various events each day throughout the week to earn points that will be tallied on the last day of competition. The more members that compete, the more points a chapter could earn.• Women can earn additional points for each chapter by wearing dresses every day. Points will also be awarded when the judging of the beards and mustaches take place at the end of the week.• On the first day, participants will check in and "bury" their razors and makeup. The first competition will be a corn-on-the-cob eating contest.• Other contests throughout the week will include a scavenger hunt, hoop rolling contest, cook/bake off contest, hat decorating contest and trivia contest.• Brothers of the Brush and Sisters of the Swish buttons must be worn the entire week. For those who have to shave or wear makeup, they may purchase a special exemption button for $5, which must be worn during the entire week. Failure to do so will cost the chapter valuable points.• To earn extra points, each chapter may enter a float, or walk in the parade, which will be held July 2.• Registered chapters pay a $5 fee per person to enter.
