Nesquehoning fire crews battling brush fire

A brush fire off of Hollow Road in Nesquehoning has been contained, scanner reports state.

A call about the fire off Route 54 behind the estate section of the borough came in just before 6:30 p.m. Sunday.

Smoke could be seen in the woods in the area around where the second phase of the solar park is proposed. The area is located north of Park Avenue.

Nesquehoning emergency crews are on scene and reports are coming in that crews have it under control.

A helicopter had been called, as well as Lansford's brush fire team, Jim Thorpe and Hometown fire departments and the Carbon County Emergency Management Agency but they were later called off after Nesquehoning crews contained the fire.
