A Palmerton man was killed in a crash Sunday afternoon in Orefield.

Deputy Coroner Jack Fliter pronounced Norman Wisser, 79, dead at the scene of the crash at 1:03 p.m. on Route 309 in Orefield.

Police said his pickup truck crashed into a restaurant.

South Whitehall Township Police Chief John Christman says the crash happened just after 12:30 p.m. Sunday when the Palmerton man lost control, sideswiped two vehicles, hit a utility pole and slammed into the side of Norma J's Restaurant.

The restaurant wasn't open at the time of the crash.

No one else was injured in the wreck.

The road was closed as a result of the crash.
