Lansford Borough Police have been getting a big assist from residents on social media.
Since Friday, the department was able to locate six people who were wanted on outstanding warrants, as well as another man who was seen exposing himself to people at a borough business on Friday.Lansford Police Sgt. Jack Soberick said on Monday that the six fugitives who had been posted on the department's Facebook page late last week had turned themselves in, or planned to do so in the coming days."We had a phenomenal response from the public, a lot of people who want to make sure the town is safe," Soberick said.Three of the people are facing felony aggravated assault charges stemming from a fight that occurred on New Year's Eve. Pedro Lopez-Herrera, 46, and Jose Baez Sr., 70, both of 262 E. Kline Ave., and Jackeline Martinez, 47, 320 Ridge Terrace, Coaldale, planned to turn themselves in Monday, Soberick said.Peter Sorokaput, 37, 306 Ridge Terrace in Coaldale, was charged with misdemeanor forgery and bad checks.Two other people were arrested on misdemeanor drug offenses - Joshua Bynon, 32, 411 E. Ridge St., Coaldale, and Allison Sanders, 36, 14 W. Broad St., Apt. 2.On Friday, Lansford Police again asked for the public's support to identify a man who allegedly exposed himself to women and performed sex acts inside the Rite-Aid store in the borough.Soberick said that thanks to urging from the public, the man showed up at the Lansford Police station within an hour of the post going up on Facebook.The post garnered more than 10,000 views and hundreds of shares.
