A Barnesville man has been booted from a program for first-time offenders.
Joseph Michaels, 24, had his acceptance into the Accelerated Rehabilitative Disposition program revoked by Schuylkill County President Judge William E. Baldwin.Michaels' cases may now go to trial.Michaels was charged by Mahanoy City police with driving under the influence of a controlled substance, possessing a controlled substance without authorization, speeding, committing a crime with a firearm, carrying a loaded weapon, possessing an instrument of crime, and other weapons and drug charges on July 7, 2014.He was admitted into ARD on May 14, 2015. However, he failed to pay the required costs and fines.In other court rulings, Judge Charles M. Miller dissolved a Tamaqua man's bench warrant and reinstated $5,000 unsecured bail.Justin R. Vereen, 22, was charged by borough police with receiving stolen property on Jan. 16, 2014, and with use or possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of marijuana on Aug. 7, 2015.Miller ordered Vereen to continue to live at 308 Washington St., Tamaqua, and not move with notifying the court.Vereen also is barred from having illegal drugs, drug paraphernalia or alcohol and traveling out of the state without permission.
