March 21, 1997 - Becky Shay strikes out nine batters from the pitching circle and picks up two hits at the plate to help Northwestern's softball team open the season with an 11-1 Colonial League victory over Palisades. The Tigers, coached by Patty Berger, break a scoreless tie by putting up seven runs in the fourth inning. Stacy Hamm knocks in three runs for the winners while Jamie Metzger and J.J. Held both drive in two.
