A Philadelphia man was sentenced to a state prison term on Thursday after pleading guilty to drug dealing.
Thomas Lee Plummer, 37, was sentenced by Judge Steven R. Serfass to serve 30 to 60 months in a state correctional institution on a charge of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance.Plummer was arrested by the vice unit of the state police at Hazleton on Feb. 16, 2015. As part of an ongoing investigation troopers obtained a search warrant for 15 N. Shore Drive in Penn Forest Township.Found in the home with Plummer were 116 baggies of heroin and 17 smaller baggies of cocaine.Serfass was told that Plummer has a long history of mental health issues. But the judge also noted that Plummer also has a long history of drug convictions.Plummer, who has five children, said he has a 1-year-old he hasn't seen because of being incarcerated. Serfass told him, "You decided to take your self out of your children's lives (by selling drugs)."In addition to the jail term Serfass ordered Plummer to get both drug and alcohol and mental health evaluations, zero tolerance for drug and alcohol use, supply a DNA sample and pay court costs of about $1,000. SSerfass gave Plummer credit for 378 days spent in jail on the charge. Serfass also ruled the sentence runs consecutive to any current sentence Plummer is serving.
