A district judge vacancy in Carbon County is still under review by Gov. Tom Wolf's office, Mark Davis, communications director for state Sen. John Yudichak, said Tuesday.
Senior judges are filling in on a rotating basis for Ed Lewis, who retired on Feb. 3 after nearly 30 years on the bench in Jim Thorpe as magisterial district judge.Lewis' successor will eventually be nominated by Wolf and confirmed by the Senate.The appointee will serve until the end of 2017 and would need to run in the 2017 election to seek a full six-year term.
