Dear editor,
Bald eagles, hawks, blue herons and bobcats are all residents of Carbon County. They have a great life. They don't need employment and they don't pay rent, mortgages, taxes or utilities. We, the taxpayers of Carbon County, do. Those beautiful creatures have to deal with humans. God put us here as the master of all creatures on earth.Barbara Green of Blue Mountain Ski Resort has a plan to improve life in the county for the masters, us. Right now, we need the help. The Blue Mountain improvement plans will produce real construction jobs, continual seasonal jobs, and the possibility of other area businesses benefiting from some of the utility improvements. There has to be some kind of balance between employment opportunities for the masters and nature. This isn't Montana or Idaho, and it never will be.If you would like to see less unemployment, welfare, drugs, prison and shoplifters at Walmart, get out of the way and let some progress happen in this county. Progress will bring some benefits for the masters. If the county has so much natural beauty and low taxes, how come nobody builds here? Most of the proposed developments in the county have eagles, hawks, and bobcats, but no houses. Finally, I have never been to Blue Mountain and I don't ski, but I support the efforts of entrepreneurs who try to make a difference. Like the song goes, "you cannot win if you do not play."John FergusonTowamensing Township
