Coming from a family of educators, Amanda Zaremba is keeping the tradition going in her new position as Weatherly High School principal. The lifelong Weatherly resident is filling the role her father, Peter McMonigle, held for 26 years before moving up to superintendent and eventually retiring.
Zaremba's mother also worked in education as a chemistry teacher."When the opportunity came up for the position I jumped at it. It's a great opportunity to give back, I feel like I'm home and finally get to be a member of the Weatherly school district family."Zaremba has an extensive background in education, starting as a teacher at Pocono Mountain Regional, then moving to Panther Valley Middle school as principal, before landing at Behavioral Health Administration as the Director of Education for nine years where she oversaw education programing for 29 schools that fall under BHA reach."I'm accustomed to all types of students and different types of learners. I'm hoping to reach and engage the nontraditional learners that might be struggling."She is looking forward to strengthening relationships with students and the community."We live in a great town with a great school," she said. Zaremba's own children attend Weatherly area school. Her oldest recently graduated, her youngest is in kindergarten and a son is in ninth grade."It's so much fun for him to have mom here," she laughed. "I got to catch up on sleep every 10 years."Zaremba's husband is also a lifelong Weatherly resident owning a business in the area."We're very committed to the town. I plan on being here a very long time; as long as they will have me."
