Three men are in prison following a burglary at New England Motor Freight.
On March 9 at 3:45 a.m., NEMF, located on Mahoning Drive East, Lehighton reported a burglary/theft involving a cut in the fencing surrounding the facility. Police found a trail cut through the woods leading across a stream to the rear of a business on Ashtown Drive.Along the trail a large volume of merchandise was discovered.Police seized in excess of $6,000 in merchandise which included more than 30 automotive tires, tools, plumbing fixtures, furniture, and clothing. Additional items seized by police included fishing waders.As part of the investigation search warrants were served on a vehicle, and a residence in Palmerton.Police also seized merchandise from a building on First Street in Lehighton, and another residence in Palmerton. These items included power tools, plumbing fixtures, tires, clothing, hand tools, XBox One systems, and liquor.By 9:30 p.m. police arraigned three people for the burglary/theft.Charged were: Daniel Gruber, 42, of Lehighton, dock supervisor at New England Motor Freight; Martin Konze of Palmerton, 45, Nicholas Sickonic, 22, of Palmerton. Both Konze and Sickonic are unemployed. Bail was set at $150,000 for Konze. Sickonic and Gruber had bail set at $100,000.Bail $100,000They were each charged with two counts of criminal trespass, burglary, theft, receiving stolen property and criminal conspiracy, all felonies.Police said the investigation is ongoing and more charges are expected.
