New construction in the Green Acres Industrial Park in Nesquehoning is expected to start in the spring, according to a joint announcement by the Carbon-Schuylkill Industrial Development Authority and officials of DeSoto Inc., which owns the ever-growing Nesquehoning plant of Quartite Creative Industries Inc.

Plans call for construction of a 44,000-square-foot annex at the western end of the existing plant. The addition will provide additional jobs where employment is about 225.According to CSIDC, this will be another substantial contributions to the economic stability of the Panther Valley, now based on a diversified industry rather than one prime industry.
