A Tamaqua man was sent to the Schuylkill County prison in Pottsville after a domestic assault on Feb. 12.

Tamaqua police were contacted by the female victim who reported that she had been assaulted by William David Lee, 41, of 242 Van Gelder St.The victim was in the home, getting dressed, when an argument erupted with Lee, who is also known as "Southern Dave."She threw clothing at him, which resulted in his punching her in the back. She ran into the bathroom and closed the door.Lee then broke into the bathroom and kicked the woman causing her to strike her head on the toilet. He then grabbed her by the throat and continued punching and kicking her. The assault ended when the victim kicked Lee in the groin.Lee was arrested and arraigned before duty District Judge Christine Hale, of Frackville, on charges of simple assault (two counts) and harassment. Bail was set at $10,000 straight cash, which he was unable to post.
