Learn to eat 'heart healthy'

Blue Mountain Health System will recognize American Heart Month with a free educational program and cooking demonstration at 1 p.m. Feb. 25 in the community room at the Gnaden Huetten Campus, 211 N. 12th St. in Lehighton.

Food can play a major role in heart health, so if you're worried about heart disease, one of the most important things you can do is start eating a heart-healthy diet.Learn what foods are considered "heart healthy" and how to add fiber to your day-to-day menus with whole grains, beans, fruits and vegetables.Michael Obert, CROP, will discuss heart disease, prevention and treatment and dietitian Nancy Matyas will demonstrate how to "cook for a healthy heart."
