Minersville captured its second Schuylkill League girls basketball championship in the last three years, defeating Marian, 55-44, in Friday's title game at Martz Hall in Pottsville.

The Miners' potent 1-2 combination of point guard Abby Schoffstall and center Emily Mealey led the way with 21 and 20 points respectively.

Brenna Karnish had 17 points for the Fillies and Vanessa Whitecavage added 16.
