Tamaqua Area School Board took action on the following items:
• The board's Finance Committee approved the 2016-17 Schuylkill Technology Center budget. A vote was required by the committee to place a resolution on the agenda of the Jan. 19 board meeting.• The board's Education Committee agreed to enter into a Memorandum of Agreement with Penn State University, Hazleton, and Tamaqua Area High School, for the purpose of conducting an Introduction to Engineering and Design,which has started and ends May 5, for $5,676.• The board's Auxiliary Committee approved the request of Thorn Devlin, Ski Club adviser, to take the Ski Club to Killington, Vermont, Feb. 19, and return Feb. 21. The Ski Club adviser is requesting an early dismissal at noon on Feb. 19. Students will write a letter on the educational merit of the trip.• The board's Education Committee approved the second reading of a policy related to school district facility use procedure, as well as public attendance at school events.• The board's Finance Committee accepted the offer of $800 for a parcel located at 153½ Penn St., Tamaqua.- Terry Ahner
