A LOOK BACK
january 14, 1970The Tamaqua Borough Council appointed Charles Moyer as the town's police chief during a meeting held in the town hall.Moyer, who was promoted by unanimous vote, has been acting as police chief since the retirement of Lester Baer last October. The appointment ended speculation in some quarters that the police chief appointment would be handed to an out-of-town applicant. According to several councilmen polled at the end of the meeting, Moyer won the job hands-down by his efficient work. He had been appointed acting chief, and previously served the department as a sergeant.
