Schuylkill County Commissioners on Sept. 1 completed the sale and transition of Rest Haven, the county nursing home.
Investment 360 LLC, of Lakewood, New Jersey, which had been selected as the purchaser of the 142-bed facility in May, finalized the $11 million purchase on Aug. 31 and commenced operations at the facility at 12:01 a.m. Sept. 1.The county in August 2014 decided to sell the nursing home after spending millions of dollars over the past few years to help the facility pay its bills.The subsidies topped $2 million, and the county paid, on average, about $200,000 per year in workers' compensation expenses related to the facility between 2012-2014.The home, built in 1912, has 142 beds and employs about 113 full-time and about 130 part-time workers. Investment 360 was among 10 companies offering to buy the home.
