Lehighton school board member Bill Hill dies

William "Bill" J. Hill Jr. 63, active member of the Lehighton Area School Board, died today at Lehigh Valley Hospital.

Hill was a graduate of Slippery Rock University where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Education on a wrestling scholarship. He was an alternate for the 1972 Olympic Wrestling team. After his college education, he went on to The Philadelphia Naval Shipyard and was in the Merchant Marines. He later went into the Boilermaker's Union and spent 35 years of service, 13 years of which were as union president of Local 13.

Funeral Services will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday at The Ovsak Funeral Home, 190 S. 4th St., Lehighton with the Reverend Michael E. Ahrensfield officiating.
