CARBON COUNTY COURT - GUILTY PLEAS

Carbon County President Judge Roger N. Nanovic accepted guilty pleas from 14 people last week.

John R. Bresnak, 24, of Allentown, pleaded to a charge of possession of a small amount of marijuana filed by state police at Lehighton on July 28 on Route 248, Bowmanstown.Nanovic fined him $500 plus costs.Derryl G. Gracely, 53, of Albrightsville, pleaded to having an offensive weapon, a sawed-off .22 rifle he told Nanovic he used for "coon hunting." He was charged by state police at Fern Ridge on June 8. Charges of terroristic threats and simple assault were dropped.Nanovic sentenced him to 18 months of probation, ordered him to get a mental health and drug and alcohol evaluations. Gracely has already turned in the rifle to be destroyed.Nicholas Sickonic, 22, of Palmerton, pleaded to possession of drug paraphernalia and a summary motor vehicle code violation. Charges were filed by state police at Lehighton on April 5. A charge of possession of a controlled substance was dropped.Nanovic sentenced him to six months probation and fined him $25 for speeding.Dora J. Stoeckel, 40, of Palmerton, pleaded to possession of a controlled substance. She was charged by the state police at Hazleton vice unit on July 20. Charges of possession with intent to deliver and related charges were dropped.Nanovic deferred sentencing.Anthony Dick, 32, of Lehighton, pleaded to simple assault stemming from an incident on May 10 at 276 Harvard Ave., Palmerton. He was charged by borough police.Nanovic fined him $300.Michael C. Gallagher, 35, of Jim Thorpe, pleaded to failing to provide accurate registration information as required by Megan's Law as a sex offender. He was charged on May 15 by Jim Thorpe police.Nanovic sentenced him to one to 12 months in jail, to be served at the same time as a sentence in Schuylkill County. He'll be eligible for work release.Luis M. Cedeno Garcia, 29, of Philadelphia, pleaded to possession of a small amount of marijuana. He was charged by state police at Lehighton on Aug. 9 after being stopped along Pohopoco Drive at Green Street.Nanovic sentenced him to six months of probation and ordered him to obtain a drug and alcohol evaluation. He also fined him $25 for driving without a valid inspection sticker.Rodney A. Green, 43, of Lehighton, pleaded to theft and two counts of criminal trespass. The crimes happened on June 3, in which he took jewelry from a home, and on June 20, in which he took a box of coins. Charges of burglary were dropped.Nanovic deferred sentencing.Scott A. Hopkinson Jr., 29, of Allentown, pleaded to criminal trespass stemming from an incident on Oct. 26. He was charged by Lehighton police.Nanovic sentenced him to one year less one day to two years less one day, to be served at the same time as a sentence in Lehigh County. He was also ordered to pay $20 in restitution to the victim and pay court costs and fees.Cory J. Hunsicker, 38, of Lehighton, pleaded to simple assault stemming from an incident on Nov. 16. He was charged by Lehighton police. A charge of aggravated assault was dropped.Nanovic sentenced him to nine months to two years less one day in jail. The sentence is to be served at the same time as a two-year sentence he's serving in Lackawanna County on a federal probation violation. He's to have no contact with the victim, and Nanovic ordered him to obtain a drug and alcohol evaluation.Michael T. Lucas, 49, of Lehighton, pleaded to simple assault stemming from a domestic violence incident on Sept. 29. He was charged by Franklin Township police.Nanovic sentenced him to six months of probation, to have a drug and alcohol evaluation, with zero tolerance for alcohol use. He'll be subject to random testing and must undergo anger management classes and continue going to marriage counseling sessions.Michael J. Neff Jr., 22, of Lehighton, pleaded to possession, sale, use and display of illegal documents on May 8. He was charged by Lehighton police.Nanovic sentenced him to one year of probation, fined him $250, and ordered him to pay court costs and fees.William O. Rhyder, 58, no address given, pleaded to harassment on July 29. He was charged in a domestic assault incident by Franklin Township police.Nanovic fined him $300 plus costs.Richard A. Vick, 50, of Weissport, pleaded to possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of a small amount of marijuana on Sept. 16 in Lehighton. He was charged by state police vice unit at Hazleton.Vick told Nanovic he sold marijuana to pay child support.Nanovic sentenced him to two to 12 months in jail on the charge of possession, to obtain a drug and alcohol evaluation, imposed zero tolerance for substance use, and ordered random drug and alcohol testing. On the possession charge, Nanovic sentenced Vick to one year of probation, consecutive to the jail sentence.
