Dear Editor,Forgive me if I sound repetitive, but with the increase in drugs, thefts and family discontent, I don’t think we can just set it aside and say, “This happens every year around the holidays!”No, perhaps we need to tear down another church! I’m sure God sheds a tear every time the wrecking ball strikes another house of worship.Let the facts speak for themselves; where are all the youth on Sunday morning? I have been compiling some research on my own for the past several months by visiting many different churches. I can tell you one simple note: Walk in any church and the first thing you’ll notice is a lot of white and/or gray hair!Find a seat and look around you, count the number of young people in the church. Again, I need to go back to my younger days during WWII (as Archie Bunker said, “The Big One!”).Churches were full to overflowing back then. People prayed for peace and to see their young men come home. Then came 1945, and the end of the war. After the celebrations died down and things got back to normal, guess what, the churches began to see a slowdown in attendance! All of sudden we don’t need God anymore!Now, it seems we are witnessing the results as the baby boomers bring up their children in a new society with two working parents and latchkey kids. To speed things up, our illustrious government leaders removed the Bible and the Ten Commandments, and replaced them with politically correct speech and thought. Add a little electronic technology, and what kind of development are we seeing in the children of today!Not too many years past, I was thrilled to be a member of a church that had a great bus ministry that brought many children to church who had parents that did not give a hoot!Before long someone said, “We are losing money because the nickels and dimes these youngsters bring in do not pay the insurance on the buses!” Duh! You guessed it, they sold the buses! The kids? I guess I am back to the beginning of this letter? People, find a church, and bring your kids! God Bless America.Richard M. GrossLehighton
