A large American flag is proudly displayed on the new Route 903 bridge being constructed in Jim Thorpe. The bridge is dedicated to Andrew Joseph "A.J." Baddick, a Jim Thorpe native who died in Iraq on Sept. 29, 2003, rescuing a soldier whose Humvee had plunged into the water during a mortar attack. The bridge spans the Lehigh River where he used to love kayaking and served as a river guide. The illuminated flag is viewed through the trees at 10 p.m. Monday. BOB FORD/TIMES NEWS
