A Palmerton man was placed on probation after previously pleading to criminal trespass while a Nesquehoning man entered a guilty plea in a theft case.
Both defendants appeared on Monday in Carbon County court before Judge Joseph J. Matika.Joshua Paul Hoffman, 21, was charged by state police at Lehighton with an incident at 915 Hahns Dairy Road in Towamensing Township that occurred on Feb. 27. Hoffman admitted trespassing on his grandfather's property.Matika placed him on probation for a year and ordered he supply a DNA sample, render 50 hours of community service, get a drug and alcohol evaluation and follow any recommendation for treatment, and make restitution of $537.33, which is a half share as there is a co-defendant in the case.Jason Maxim Brunda, 33, of Nesquehoning, pleaded to one count of retail theft. He was arrested on April 15 by Nesquehoning police for an incident at the Dollar General Store, East Catawissa Street, in which he took an item valued at $5.Matika placed him on probation for six months and ordered he stay out of the store.Both defendants must pay court costs of about $1,000 and a $50 per month supervision fee while on probation.
