Police find drugs, stolen gun in Kidder stop

A vehicle stop today early today in Carbon County has led to the arrest and jailing of the driver.

State police at Fern Ridge said Isaiah W. Sanders, of Fox St., Philadelphia, was stopped about 12:24 a.m. operating a 2015 Dodge Charger along Interstate 80 westbound in Kidder Township. He was stopped for vehicle code violations.During the stop troopers smelled the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle and a probable cause search of the vehicle was made.Found in the trunk was a bag containing 36 small plastic jars of marijuana and a stolen loaded Glock .40-caliber semiautomatic pistol.The pistol had been reported stolen in Hagerstown, Maryland, in 2013.Sanders was advised of his rights and admitted that all of the contraband belonged to him and that he intended to sell the marijuana.Troopers said he was taken into custody and charged with possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, receiving stolen property and firearms carried without a license.He was lodged in the county prison in Nesquehoning.
