Lehighton middle school production Monday, Tuesday

Lehighton Area Middle School Theatre will present "Getting to Know … Oklahoma" at 7:15 p.m. Monday and Tuesday.

The performances will be held in the Lehighton Area High School auditorium.Reserved seating may be purchased online at

Tickets are $6 for adults and $4 for students and seniors.The show features Kylie Kresge (eighth grade) as Aunt Eller; Calvin Maholick (eighth grade) as Curly; Ashley Beers (seventh grade) as Laurey; John DeMatte (eighth grade) as Jud Frey; Roger Pomposello (seventh grade) as Will Parker; Emily Martin (sixth grade) as Ado Annie; Jaiden Muffley (sixth grade) as Gertie, Christopher Jensen (seventh grade) as Andrew Carnes; and Nicholas Karpowicz (eighth grade) as The Peddler. The ensemble includes students from grades five through eight.The production is under the direction of Laura Welkey.Set in a Western Indian territory in the 1900s, the high-spirited rivalry between the local farmers and cowboys provides the colorful background against which Curly, a handsome cowboy, and Laurey, a winsome farm girl, play out their love story.Although the road to true love never runs smooth, with these two headstrong romantics holding the reins, love's journey is as bumpy as a surrey ride down a country road.That they will succeed in making a new life together we have no doubt, and that this new life will begin in a brand-new state provides the ultimate climax to the triumphant "Oklahoma."
