A Tamaqua woman was cited by police twice in the past two weeks.

Tonya Nicole Braun, 24, with a last known address of 225 Pine St., was cited for defiant trespass after an Oct. 26 incident at a vacant home at 18 N. Pine St.Tamaqua Police received a call at 5:20 p.m. that day concerning a person who had entered the condemned building, which has no electricity or water.They found Braun in a front room, sleeping on the floor.She told police she had a key to the home, provided by someone she knew as "Tim." She had given him $300 for rent three days before being found by police.She had a phone number for Tim, which she provided to the officer. When the officer called the number, the phone was answered by John Chaney of Hazle Street in Tamaqua.Chaney said he doesn't know Braun or anyone named Tim who may have rented her the house. The property is owned by a Norristown man.Officers also found a door knob in the middle room, which had apparently recently been replaced with a new lock and keys.On Nov. 5, police were called by a Clay Street resident who reported that Braun had stolen her LG cellphone. The phone was taken earlier in the day, when Braun was in the residenceThe phone is valued at $139.99.Braun was cited for theft by unlawful taking and receiving stolen property.
