A Virginia man has been extradited to Carbon County to face child sexual assault charges in connection with a series of disturbing incidents that allegedly occurred more than five years ago.
Gerald A. Blair, 30, was arraigned Monday. He is currently locked up on $200,000 bail.According to police, Blair inappropriately touched a minor on multiple occasions between 2008 and 2010, when the alleged victim was between 3 and 6 years old.Police said that at the time of the alleged incidents, Blair had been dating the victim's mother, and was often responsible for watching her children while she was at work. The alleged incidents occurred at a home they shared in Weatherly.Police became aware of the allegations after the boy told his father, who reported it in January 2014.Shortly after that, the victim testified to police that Blair would make him and his sisters watch "sex movies." The boy said that Blair would force him to remove his pants and then touch his penis. The victim said in some cases, Blair would lock him in a room and force him to watch the pornographic movies.The boy said that in addition to the sexual episodes, there were also multiple incidents where Blair punched him in the head. His mother was interviewed by police about a month after the incidents were reported to police. She admitted that the child told her about Blair hitting him. She said that her children may have asked her for protection from Blair, but that she was under the influence of heroin at the time.Police interviewed Blair in September 2014. He said that he had lived in Weatherly with the mother and her children. He admitted that he would watch pornographic movies at the house, but denied the allegations.
