Harvilla will be the next Carbon sheriff

Tony Harvilla, a life-long resident of Carbon County, will be the next sheriff, replacing Dwight Nothstein, who is retiring.

Harvilla, a Democrat, won by almost 1,000 votes over his Republican opponent Rick Bekesy.

"I'm very pleased with the results. The reason is all of the support from many community leaders including the current sheriff, Dwight Nothstein, former sheriff Pete Hoherchak, and many others."

He added, "I was committed to running a clean and positive campaign and I think the voters appreciated that. I also felt that I was the most qualified candidate and I believe the voters recognized that."
