Candidates for Schuylkill County recorder of deeds

Two people are vying for terms as Schuylkill County recorder of deeds. The seat is currently held by Republican Ann Dudish of Pottsville, who was appointed in September 2014 after the death of her husband, A. Matthew Dudish, who died in June 2014 while in office.

Democrat Gina Warhola of Branchdale, a political newcomer, is also seeking the four-year term in office.Ann DudishParty: RepublicanAge: 56Education: Pottsville Area High School.Profession/trade: I am a licensed property and casualty, life, accident and health insurance agent, and have the CISR designation in the insurance industry. I am the president of Anthracite Abstract Company Inc., a title insurance agency. I was the former controller for Murphy Jewelers for 13 years, and Richard B. Ryon Insurance and Ryon Real Estate for 26 years.Affiliations: I am a member of the American Land Title Association, the Pennsylvania Recorder of Deeds Association and an affiliate member of the Schuylkill County Board of Realtors.Q: What would you bring to the office?I will dedicate every day to maintaining the real estate records of Schuylkill County. I am not running for political reasons; I am looking to serve the people of Schuylkill County and better the office of recorder of deeds. My years of experience in the real estate industry and my knowledge of the position's duties give me the ability to make the changes necessary to make the recorders office the best it can be.Q: What changes would you make to the office if elected?The current contract for our land management system will expire at the end of 2016. I am in the process of looking at other systems that may be a better fit for our office when we investigate the e-recording process. She is an ardent supporter of both the National Multiple Sclerosis Society and American Cancer Society, as she is a thyroid cancer survivor.Q: What would you bring to the office?I will be bringing my continuing education, outstanding work ethic, motivational skills and managerial experience.Q: What changes would you make to the office if elected?I would suggest or investigate the option of offering one evening and or one Saturday a month for four hours for consumer convenience. Of course, it would have to prove cost effective.
