A White Haven woman died in a head-on collision on North Lehigh Gorge Drive in Foster Township on Thursday afternoon, state police at Hazleton said.

Carol A. Searfoss, 61, died in the 4:10 p.m. crash, police said. The crash happened as a car driven by Heather Ann Puzzetti, 31, of Weatherly, was heading north and crossed the double yellow line into oncoming traffic and struck Searfoss' sport utility vehicle head-on, police said.

Puzzetti and her 8-year-old son, John Charles Puzzetti, suffered moderate to severe injuries in the crash, police said.

State police were assisted at the scene by Weatherly ambulance, American Patient Transport Systems Inc., Fearnots Volunteer Fire Company of Foster Township and the White Haven Fire Department.
