Olympian, Blue Raider harriers earn wins
Two area cross country teams earned Schuylkill League sweeps on Wednesday. Jim Thorpe took down Pine Grove in a dual meet, as Tamaqua was victorious against Blue Mountain and Columbia Montour VoTech in a tri-meet.
BOYS SOCCERCatasauqua-NorthwesternNorthwestern pummeled Colonial League foe Catasauqua 7-0 in fine fashion, as JD Haaf became the school's all-time single-season leader in goals scored. Haaf, who notched his 33rd and 34th goals of the season, surpassed Jesse Sechler ('95) for the honor.The Tigers' Andrew Goodolf, Noah Meyers, Brad Shafer, Jonathan Blaine and Kenneth Gawelko all scored one goal each.CROSS COUNTRYJim Thorpe-Pine GroveJim Thorpe earned a sweep of Pine Grove in a Schuylkill League cross country meet.The boys were victorious, 15-50.Dylan Bucior of Jim Thorpe came in first place with a time of 17:24. Abigail Stankiewitch put down eight kills. Courtney McCall passed out 25 assists, had six kills and four digs. Gianna Agosti had eight digs and Maureen Kloap had six digs, three kills and three aces.Despite the loss, Jamey Mikovich led the Panthers with three kills, five blocks, one service point, and eight digs.Kelsey Van Horn added three kills, seven assists, eight service points and one ace.
